The Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku is a unique and beautiful piece of teaware. Inspired by the Oni-Hagi style, the cracked white glaze conjures images of rough sea waves lapping against a dark shore. The sleek and austere desin of this tea bowl is sure to bring a touch of class to your daily tea ritual.

How to use the Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku

For a bowl of matcha, sift the matcha powder into the Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku bowl, pour in the water, and whisk the tea until a light green foam appears on top.

    Step 1

    Place a sifter on top of the matcha bowl. Add 2 grams or 1 teaspoon of powder into the sifter, then sift it through until you obtain a finely sifted layer of powder at the bottom of the Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku.

    Heat the water until it reaches a temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 degrees Celsius.

    You can now mix in a small amount of warm water into the powder and mix it together until you have a smooth paste with no clumps in your Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku.

    Gently mix in 100ml of water between 160-175 degrees Fahrenheit into the paste, ensuring it's well combined by gently scraping the sides of the Chawan Kairagi-Yuzu Tenmoku.

    It's time to whisk your matcha bowl with brisk, zigzag motions using your wrist. With practice, you'll develop a light green foam on top of the matcha, creating a smoother consistency and taste.
