How to use the Chawan Urushi Tenmoku
To prepare a bowl of matcha, sift the matcha powder into the Chawan Urushi Tenmoku bowl, add in the water, and whisk the tea until a light green foam starts to appear on the top.
Step 1
Start by setting a sifter on the Chawan Sakura Unofu. Add 2 grams or 1 teaspoon of powder into the sifter and push it through until you create a finely sifted layer of powder at the bottom of the bowl.
Step 2
Heat up some water to a temperature of approximately 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 degrees Celsius.
Step 3
Add a small amount of warm water to the powder and stir until you get a smooth paste without any clumps at the bottom of the Chawan Urushi Tenmoku bowl.
Step 4
Add 100ml of water between 160-175 degrees Fahrenheit to the paste, gently mixing it in while scraping the sides of the Chawan Sakura Unofu to ensure it is fully combined.
Step 5
Now, whisk the tea quickly with rapid zigzag motions using your wrist. With enough practice, you'll be able to create a light green foam on the matcha in a matter of seconds, which will enhance its smooth consistency and taste.
Step 6
Enjoy your bowl of matcha! You can either drink it directly out of the Chawan Sakura Unofu or pour it into a glass.
