Sabor

Descubra los resultados de Nio Teas ’ Método de cata de té de 4 pasos

To evaluate the flavor of our Latte Matcha, we consider both the aroma and how the matcha behaves on the palate. We look for elements such as dryness, acidity, minerality, sweetness and umami. We also examine the texture, or mouthfeel. Because umami is a defining feature of matcha, we pay special attention to how prominently it appears in the taste profile.

Paso 1 - Observar la apariencia

The color of this Latte Matcha is a lighter, more muted shade of green, and it is finely sifted into a smooth, delicate powder.

Paso 2 - Evaluación del aroma

As the Latte Matcha is mixed with water, it releases a fresh, slightly citrusy aroma.

Paso 3 - Degustación del té

On the first sip of the latte, the matcha gently steps back to let the smooth and creamy texture of the milk take the lead. As the flavor develops, the Latte Matcha brings forward a strong vegetal and subtly umami note through the mid-palate. It finishes with a clean, pleasantly sweet vegetal aftertaste.

Paso 4 – Evaluación de la sensación en el paladar

This Latte Matcha is beautifully balanced, highlighting the best qualities of both the milk and the matcha. It is smooth and creamy, yet still delivers a lively vegetal character and a soft umami depth to keep the flavor engaging. Recommended ratio: 2 grams of powder to ½ cup of oat milk.

Certificado por JAS

The JAS logo, which you may find on some of our teas, stands for Japanese Agriculture Standards. This certification guarantees that the products are grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals, as verified by the Japanese government. When collaborating with larger tea farmers, we require them to provide the JAS label, which they can obtain through rigorous soil sampling and testing.

We also work with smaller tea farmers who may not yet have formal certification but still follow pesticide-free practices. We accept the “pesticide-free” label from these partners, as it aligns with our commitment to quality and sustainability while also giving opportunities to small-scale producers.

Ubicación de la producción y agricultor

Información sobre la granja

This matcha latte powder is meticulously crafted by Mr. Masuda, an accomplished tea farmer based in Shizuoka, Japan. He manages a large tea field and generously shared with us his in-depth knowledge of the entire production process, from cultivation to packaging.

During our visit, we learned about the various grades of matcha he produces. He uses the prized first harvest of tea leaves to create ceremonial matcha, which is smooth and delicate enough to enjoy on its own. For the matcha latte powder, he carefully selects later harvests that deliver a rich, flavorful latte experience.

Even though matcha lattes can be made with slightly lower-grade powder, it is still essential to source from a skilled farmer who grows tea without pesticides.

Procedente de Shizuoka

Japón

This premium matcha latte powder is grown in the pristine region of Makinohara in Shizuoka, Japan. Shizuoka is the largest tea-producing region in the country, blessed with fertile soils and a mountainous climate that creates the perfect conditions for cultivating high-quality tea. Matcha latte powder crafted in this region reflects its superior terroir, offering exceptional taste and aroma with every sip.

Cultivar y variedad de planta de té

This premium matcha latte powder is made from the Yabukita cultivar, by far the most common tea plant variety used to produce matcha latte powder.

  • Yabukita

The reason Yabukita has become so popular is its strong vegetal flavor profile, which many green tea drinkers appreciate. While you might prefer a smoother cultivar like Okumidori when drinking matcha on its own, Yabukita is ideal for matcha lattes. Its bolder flavor shines through the added milk, creating a smooth and sweet drink that still carries a clear, satisfying matcha taste.
